Cavoodle (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle)
Cavoodles are one of the most popular designer breeds, and for good reason, they make excellent family dogs. They’re great with other dogs and pets, and of course, fantastic with kids.
Cavoodles are a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. Their ears are usually set well above their eyes, and hang low past its chin. The neck is elongated and transitions to its straight back. Its tail is long and usually hangs freely past the hocks. Cavoodles are a very active, clever, and robust little breed that gets on with everyone!
Cavoodle Coat
Most Cavoodles will have a flowing, luxurious type of coat. The amount a Cavoodle will shed varies depending on the individual dog but most will shed very little, if at all. So what does this mean? Well the positive is that you won’t have dog hair all over your furniture and home and you, but if your Cavoodle isn’t dropping hair the hair keeps on growing, so most people have their Cavoodles clipped. How often? Again, this really just depends on how long you prefer the coat to be. Some Cavoodle owners have their dogs clipped once a year while others prefer having them clipped every few months. The longer the hair the more brushing required, otherwise it’s actually a very easy coat to maintain.

Our Colour phases go from off-white through to apricot-creams and sometimes we are lucky to get ruby-red.
Cavoodle Size
It all really comes down to weight and height. We expect our fully grown Toy Poodle bred Cavoodles to weigh 5-8kg and around measure 20-35cm at the shoulder. But we can’t always guarantee this as on some occasions they will take after the Mum (King Charles Cavalier Spaniel) and this can mean they will be a bit taller. Fully grown we expect them to be 35-40 cm at the shoulder and 7-12kg.
Cavoodles are said to be smart dogs, like their Poodle parent breed. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel evolved as a lapdog, prized for its sweet and friendly temperament, so the Cavoodle makes for a companion dog with a great disposition. Poodles have a distinctive, non-shedding wool coat with a velvet type texture and “powder puff” appearance. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have a medium length silky, wavy coat. This means their Cavoodle offspring will usually have a full, soft and silky coat somewhere in between those of the two parent breeds.
